Abstract: Iron is present in nearly all aluminum alloys as an impurity causing a formation of iron-rich precipitates in the as-cast state of the alloy due to its low solubility in the matrix. Dispersion, morphology and relative coarseness of precipitates may affect formation of unwanted pinholes during cold rolling to thin gauges. [..] Read more

Abstract: This study has been focused on the evaluation and comparison of the chemical treatments applied (aqueous solutions of CH3COOH (1 %), CH3COONH4 (5/25 %), EDTA (3/5 %), HCl (5/10 %) and ion exchange resin) or possible applicable (H2SO4, Na3PO4·12H2O or KNaC4H4O6·4H2O) to the heritage of lead stored in museums. The evaluation of the different solutions used for chemical treatment on lead samples is based on lead surface changes (colour, morphology, chemical composition) observation and on the impact of the chemical treatments (mass loss and cleaning efficiency). Abstract: In the present work, the computer simulation of hysteresis loops of (Nd1-xPrx)2Fe14B compounds with different Pr contents was performed for a temperature range of 300-5 K. The simulation results suggest that the alloying of Nd2Fe14B with Pr (1) leads to reducing the negative effect of the spin-reorientation phase transition on the residual magnetization of the compound (Nd1-xPrx)2Fe14B, (2) reduces the slope of the demagnetization curve making the hysteresis loop more rectangular, (3) does not have a noticeable effect on the maximum value of the coercive force, shifting its maximum to lower temperatures as the Pr content increases. Abstract: In recent years, the application of various additions (hydrides, oxides, intermetallic compounds, etc.) to powder mixtures for manufacturing Nd-Fe-B magnets shows promise as the method that allows one to increase the hysteretic characteristics of the magnets at the expense of realized grain-boundary diffusion and grain-boundary structuring processes. The hysteretic characteristics of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets are highly sensitive to their microstructure and composition of phases. [..] Read more
