Abstract

The powder mixtures of B2O3 added-Magnesite Waste-Quartz-Kaolinite-Alumina were mechanically activated in a planetary ball mill for 1 hours. The structural alterations and thermal behaviour of the powder mixture were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The results showed that the mechanical activation led to amorphisation and decreased the temperature of cordierite formation.
